In the wake of securing €4.2 million in a follow-on investment round, Eurekite announces their relocation to a standalone, state-of-the-art facility, accommodating a market development production line. The advanced materials spin-off from the University of Twente is moving their laboratory and offices across Kennispark Twente to develop the world’s first industrial Flexiramics® pilot production facility. This facility will enable the production of larger quantities of Flexiramics®, while simultaneously enhancing Eurekite’s capacity to tailor their product’s performance to specific customer needs. The applications of this novel, high potential, flexible ceramics material are ranging from batteries and electronics to oil and gas filtration.
Eurekite originated at the renowned MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology, where Flexiramics was invented during the PhD studies of CEO and co-founder Gerard Cadafalch Gazquez. During the startup phase, while developing the product and bringing the invention to the next level, the company was located at the High-Tech Factory on the campus of the University of Twente. In the current scale-up phase, the business moves from university terrain to accommodate their growth, while remaining part of the Innovation Campus, Kennispark Twente.
“We are extremely proud of our new location at the innovation campus. By staying close to our company’s roots, the business is taking advantage of, and contributing to, the rich high-tech ecosystem in the region,” COO Bas Kerkwijk explains.
“A great example of this is our close collaboration with neighboring engineering firm Demcon, which was selected as our industrialization partner based on their impressive track record and their experience with designing and constructing first-of-a-kind pilot lines.”
State of the art facilities, room to grow
In the West wing of the new location, a brand-new and custom-made 120 m2 laboratory was installed prior to the move, enabling Eurekite’s world class ceramic fiber experts to further develop the breakthrough Flexiramics® materials. In the East wing, there is ample space (approx. 210 m2) for the market development production line. The modern, spacious offices and conference rooms contribute to a pleasant working environment for the team and to accommodate comfortable company growth for the foreseeable future.
“It is very exciting to be able to take this big step toward industrialization, opening our first Flexiramics® production facility right here in the Netherlands!” declares Gerard Cadafalch Gazquez, CEO. “New material development and production companies are a rare sight. We pride ourselves in being exceptional at solving material challenges by sustainably designing, developing and commercializing customized novel products from our unique Flexiramics® technology, such as mats, fibers, particles etc.”
Eurekite’s new company headquarters are easily reachable, being only a five-minute walk away from the train station (Enschede Kennispark) and only a ten-minute drive from the A35 highway (exit Enschede-West), benefitting their customers, suppliers and employees.
